Minnesotans invited to learn what Little Falls has to offer

The Falls Ballroom is having a wedding Saturday, March 1. Owners Will and Tiffany Threlkeld have invited the surrounding community in general and couples planning to marry in particular to take part in the event.
“This is a mock wedding, with all the trimmings,” said Will. “We want to show what the Ballroom can do for wedding couples. We want to show what the community can do to put on a fabulous wedding.”
The Falls Ballroom seats up to 650 wedding guests in a spacious area that is able to include a dance floor and stage for the band. Two bars are available for set ups and more.
“Little Falls has a lot of talented small businesses that can fulfill the needs of many types of wedding venues for a very reasonable price,” said Lisa Sherwood of Lisa Sherwood Photo-graphy.
The Ballroom will be decorated as if for a wedding. Vendors will set up their booths around the set tables to show off their wares.
The event was set up by the Threlkelds to show Minnesotans just what Little Falls can do at half the price of larger towns.
“We want to keep the money in the community,” said Will. “The businesses in town pay taxes to the school, the city and the county. The owners live here and pay more taxes to the school, the city and the county. If we don’t support them, they will go away. Little Falls is a great place and we want to show that off.”
The Falls Ballroom will be showing off what it can do to make the bride and groom’s wedding party a memorable experience.
The people who will attend are future brides and grooms and couples with anniversaries coming up. They are the friends and relatives of the couples who are helping make decisions.
“Even if they have already booked their event, they can get ideas from our open house,” said Will.
Tiffany said that those who come to the Ballroom’s open house will see how the businesses in Little Falls work together to put on a great event.
“We want to have people experience all that Little Falls has to offer. It’s a great town,” said Will.
“The Ballroom is doing the ‘researching’ for couples, bringing these talented businesses together in one event for couples to better plan their special day,” said Sherwood. “By having a limited amount of vendors at this event, couples can focus on easier wedding planning and making that one-on-one connection within the community.”
The vendors include GoldSmith Jewelers who will be setting up their wares.
Dee’s Professional Decorating will have the entire ballroom decorated, coordinated with Falls Floral.
Mannequins representing the wedding party will be around the head table, dressed in wedding finery from Celebrations Bridal.
Pete and Joy’s Bakery will show off their wedding cake expertise and both Christina Johnson Photography and Lisa Sherwood Photography will display a variety of engagement, wedding and bridal images. Sherwood will have products, ideas and package specials along with discounted wedding packages.
West Side Liquor will be set up to talk about wedding packages, the Waller House representatives will entice couples with a memorable stay in the century-old bed and breakfast and Healthy Blends will offer ideas on healthy eating.
Bursch Travel has ideas for the honeymoon location, Ambiance @ 53 has gifts for every taste and Custom Printing will showcase its engraving expertise.
Kyle Hoggarth and Zack Klosowski will be representing Edward Jones at one of the booths.
“I think it’s important for those in the community that aren’t familiar with Falls Ballroom to be able to see the great venues our city has to offer for these events,” Hoggarth said. “You don’t have to look to other towns to have a great atmosphere for weddings or other events.”
Hoggarth said it is really important that newlyweds remember that this is the start of growing and building their relationship and finances need to have an important role in that. Problems with communication and/or finances are usually the leading causes of divorce.
“We will listen to where their focus is and talk about the importance of saving toward a goal,” he said.
